One of the Most Important Messages You May Ever Read

I received this message from an unnamed source. It was sent with the hope that I would broadcast it to all those who are interested in establishing a Home Based business.

I believe there is a disturbing social mindset spreading throughout society that is destroying our way of life and the American dream as we know it. What I am talking about is a "Lottery Mentality" - something that far too many people have unknowingly adopted. Simply put, a lottery mentality is the desire, or even the expectation, of unearned success.

We read about it every day - someone wins the lottery and is set for life. Someone else wins a frivolous lawsuit and never has to work again. Many kids now grow up hoping to get drafted by some pro sports team, win an $80 million contract, drive a Cadillac Escalade, and wear all that "bling" just like their sports heroes do. With TV programs like MTV, ESPN, Survivor Island, American Idol, and Deal or No Deal, how can you not expect to win big someday, somehow? Heck, you can even eat live cockroaches and fermented cow brains on TV and win your big payday!

We dream of our overnight success and love to talk about rags to riches stories. The mere thought of unearned success brings a smile to our faces - it's become the new American Dream!

The lottery mentality is a dark place in the back of our minds where we expect great success in life without having to do anything to get it. Here's the scary part: Someone with a lottery mentality hopes for the possibility of a big win, but fully expects to lose. In any other situation, this would qualify, as a good definition of insanity, wouldn't it?

Some people gamble or play the lottery just for the fun of it. Unfortunately though, most people have fully bought into the idea that success in life is a result of being lucky, or worse yet, that it should be given, not earned. That's the lottery mindset. I believe that it's this kind of destructive thinking that is the primary cause for complacency, laziness, fear, and the failure to set and reach goals in life. If we live from day to day on hopes of winning or succeeding, but expecting to fail, what will the result always be?

Now take a look at your home based business for a moment. Did you start your business with the understanding that consistent work over time will result in your success? Alternatively, did you start with the hopes of making big money without doing a whole lot of work? What mindset do you have? What is your plan to achieve your financial goals? These are tough, but important questions to ask yourself about your business.

Keep this in mind: If you aren't careful, the pursuit of unearned success in any one area of your life can affect all areas. The lottery mindset can be a real danger to everything you hope to accomplish. Do you want a great education? You'll have to earn it. Want that dream house and all the toys that go with it? You'll have to earn it. Want to be a great musician? Golfer? Artist? You'll have to earn it. Want a great marriage? You'll have to earn it. Want to succeed with your business? Yep, you'll have to earn that too.

When you live with a lottery ticket mentality and expect unearned success, you are gambling with the very future of your life. Your odds of getting what you want are slim to none. On the other hand, absolutely anything you dream of accomplishing and enjoying in life can be yours - if you are willing to work for it and stick it out until you reach your goals.

I have personally found that nothing of great worth or lasting joy in life comes without hope, commitment, dedication and hard work. Don't get caught up in this dangerous lottery mentality. Don't let your loved ones either. Expect to get everything you want in life, and then go earn it. This is your life. You only get one shot at it. Why would you ever leave it to chance?

Succeeding in your home based business is not that hard - remember choose the right team that will stand by to help you in any way possible! Work hard and let's all succeed together!

Editor’s Position

There are countless so-called Home Based Business promoters offering you nothing other than something worst than the “Lottery Mentality”. Many so-called home based business promoters are misleading the “Cyberspace Public” in believing they can find their “Pot of Gold” at the end of the rainbow for $14.95, while you sit at home relaxing. Whom do they take us for; I am quite sure you can answer that question!

I will discuss this topic in more detail later. Tell us what you think! Send your comments on the topic. Contact Us!

Starting Your Home Based Business

A home-based business is any enterprise for which the principal administrative and managerial activities take place within an individual's personal residence. In several cases, you need three essentials components to operate a home-based business a computer, Internet connection and website hosting. People start home-based business ventures for a wide variety of reasons. For example, some people are forced to leave the corporate world because of downsizing or early retirement, while others leave voluntarily out of a desire to be their own boss, to avoid the hassles associated with commuting, or to facilitate caring for children or elderly relatives. Home-based businesses have become a significant trend in recent years. Once viewed as way for an unemployed person to make some money until a "real" job came along, home-based businesses are now taken much more seriously. A home-based business is as ‘real as real can get’! Home based businesses have added its contribution to the Gross National Product.

Today, home-based businesses run the gamut from travel agencies, consulting firms and advertising agencies to photography studios and free-lance writing services. According to recent study, home-based businesses create more than 8,000 new jobs each day and generate nearly $400 billion in annual revenues. In fact, such well-known companies as Amway, Ben and Jerry's, Domino's Pizza, Estee Lauder, Hallmark, and Nike all started as home-based businesses.

The Internet is driving force behind the growth of home-based businesses and the increasing capability and availability of computer and communications technology. Powerful yet affordable home computer systems equipped to connect to the Internet allow people to send and receive messages, transfer data, and conduct research from their homes, largely eliminating the need to commute to a place of employment.

Because of these and other factors, an estimated 40 million Americans now work from their homes. Not surprisingly, two-thirds of home-based business owners are women, who choose this option either because of childcare concerns or because of a perceived glass ceiling limiting their earnings potential in the corporate world. Running a business out of the home offers a number of advantages, including time savings, control over working hours and conditions, independence, and flexibility. Starting a home-based business is also considerably cheaper than starting a business in rented facilities. In addition to saving money on overhead expenses, commuting costs, and wardrobe expenditures, many home-based business owners can deduct a portion of their rent or mortgage interest from their personal income taxes.

Successful home-based business owners are usually good at what they do and enjoy doing it. It is also helpful to be independent, self-sufficient, and flexible. Other keys to success include being able to sell oneself and the business, and staying on top of personal and business finances. Since it is often difficult to associate being at home with working, home-based business people must be able to maintain boundaries between their personal and professional lives. In addition, they require a great deal of self-discipline to overcome the sense of isolation, frequent distractions, and lack of motivation and concentration that commonly affect those working from home. More to Come!

The Right Team

Choosing the right Team is just as important as choosing the right Home Based Business! You would want to join a Team that possesses the clarity about what makes up a successful home based business and effective team.

There are two types of teams; team one is a group of people who work on an individual basis where the outcome is the sum of each individual's performance. Team two; is a group of individuals that work in a collaborative manner and utilize all the intelligence of the group to produce a specific result that is unattainable by working as an individual.

To increase the probability of your home based business financial success it is imperative that you focus your attention on aligning yourself with team two.

In team one, you have the person who is your sponsor or team leader. He/she may be a family member, friend or co-worker. In this group, individuals that get along with each other are working together that get along with each other but they view accomplishment strictly on an individual level. They really have not internalized any of the team building ideas, nor do they posses the ability to do so. What they may have in common is only the desire to earn additional income. When a person’s condition or circumstances change, their desire also changes, leaving everyone to fend for themselves.

It is imperative that you join a team in which the team members are in constant communication, sharing dialogue, brainstorming and exploring ideas - all in the interest of producing the best result for the entire team. Team members should be responsible to other members of the team for the greatest performance results. Starting a home based business require a strong foundation, your team represent this foundation.
The paramount team has members that share a common commitment to achieving an end result that each member views as a win, and each member understands that the various members of the team are committed to achieving the ultimate result.

A good team leader can facilitate dialogue about what is possible for the group and then determine the opportunities from the possibilities. Through this enhanced communication, the team tightens its bond and begins the process of achieving financial success as a team, not on an individual level.

Your team leader should posses the ability to put you to task by creating a specific goal to execute within a specific period. This clarity and a clear understanding of the action process gives life and vitality to a team. The team knows where they are going and knows how to move to action to achieve the goal.

The best team is a group of individuals with complementary skills. They are committed to a common purpose, a set of performance goals and will not waiver when conditions and circumstances change.

Do not approach your home based business as a hobby. Your decision to join a team should not an emotional decision. You must make a rational decision and be as objective as possible, as your financial future will rest on your decision. To join a team solely because of an emotional tie or you do not want to hurt someone feelings; you are setting stage for failure for your home based business. Do not fail before you start to succeed!
